Orchestra
The Opera in the Ozarks Orchestra consists of professional and advanced student musicians from across the country. The instrumentalists enter fully into the artistic and social life at The Point. After the very intense preparation period and the three mainstage operas have opened, opportunities for chamber music, chamber orchestra, practice and relaxation abound.
Rehearsals begin Sunday June 10 (recently changed )and the final performance is Friday July 20. Orchestral musicians receive room and board for the entire session and a modest stipend: section musicians $800, principals $1000, concertmaster $1200.
The orchestra consists of 8 violins, 3 violas, 2 celli, 1 bass. 2 flutes, 1 oboe, 2 clarinets, 1 bassoon, 2 horns, 2 trumpets, 1 trombone and 1 percussion. Below is a list of available positions for the 2012 Season. Applications for these vacancies are now being accepted. People’s plans do change, so if you are interested in a position for which there is no current opening, please send a resume to orchestra@opera.org. Should that position become available, we will be in contact.
The review of applications will begin March 15. Acceptances will be made after March 25 on a rolling basis. The final deadline for receipt of applications is April 10; positions will remain open until filled but most offers decisions will be made by April 15.

- A one-page résumé that highlights your orchestral experience and education.
- A list of opera, operetta, musical theatre works performed
- A DVD (preferred) or CD recording or You Tube posts of 4-5 standard orchestral excerpts and one page of a concerto or other solo.
- The names of three references which we may contact about your work. One should be your major teacher and orchestra conductor if still or recently a student.
