Auditions


Thank you for your interest in applying for our 2012 summer season.  Please complete the two-page 2012 Vocal Artist Application.  If you are applying for financial aid, complete the 2012 Scholarship Application. Well in advance of the audition date requested, send all materials with the $40 application fee (payable to “IPFAC”) to:

Only after receipt of the application and application fee will an audition time be assigned or your DVD/Video reviewed.  Early applications are strongly encouraged. Deadline for receipt of applications for auditions is two days before the proposed audition.   Final application deadline is February 15. The priority deadline for submitting a DVD or You Tube posting is February 20 but submissions will be accepted until February 29.

LIVE AUDITION

Live auditions were held in November and December in Ann Arbor, Kansas City, Lawrence, Wichita, Oklahoma City, Denton, Austin, Houston, Tallahassee and Atlanta.    Auditions in New York, Boston, Chicago, Tucson and Los Angeles are scheduled for the dates below.   Auditions in these cities will be scheduled upon receipt of a completed application and the application fee.

AUDITION REPERTOIRE

Please prepare prepare three arias. At least one aria must be in Italian, French or German and one in English. One selection may be an art song.

ADDITIONAL MATERIALS

Bring the following to your live audition. If sending a DVD or auditioning via YouTube/, send along at the time:

  • 1-2 page résumé detailing opera, musical theater and related experience
  • B&W or color headshot attached (glued or stapled) to your résumé

DVD, WEBSITE or YouTube AUDITION

A live audition will best convey your abilities, personality and potential. However, well filmed (but not professional) video shot from the front may be submitted. If possible, make sure the camera frames you head to toe. Audition via personal website video or YouTube will be considered IF it is of HIGH QUALITY. These selections must contain the same repertoire as required of the live auditions (see below). We reserve the right to request additional electronic samples of sufficient quality to properly evaluate you.

If submitting a DVD, provide track numbers and excerpt titles. Before sending the DVD please be sure that it works!  The priority deadline for submission of DVDs and You Tube postings is February 20, but submissions will be received until February 29.  It is in your interest to submit materials as early as possible.  After you have applied,send resumes, headshots, DVDs and YouTube/website URLs directly to:

NOTIFICATION

Artists accepted into the program will be notified no later than March 15, 2012. Scholarship offers will be made shortly after notices of admission.  Casting in some roles may continue after that date.
